2017 Garment Care Resolutions

With a little love, your clothes can last longer and save you money. Here’s some simple tips for building a better relationship with your favorite garments this year.

  1. Always air out clothes, remove all jewelry or pins, empty pockets and inspect them for stains before putting them away.
  2. Immediately blot stains and treat them quickly and properly, so they do not set in permanently.
  3. Clean matching sets, such as suits and sweaters, at the same time to maintain color consistency.
  4. Keep hair spray, perfume and lotions away from my clothing to avoid difficult stains.
  5. Fix small problems, such as loose seam openings and buttons, right away.
  6. Do not cause unnecessary wrinkling by overcrowding garments in the closet.
  7. Use quality hangers to support garments and keep them true to their original shape.
  8. Always fold knitted garments and place them in a drawer or on a shelf.
  9. Promptly remove garments from plastic dry cleaning bags to prevent moisture and damage.
  10. Clean seasonal clothing before storing to deter insects.
  11. Store seasonal clothing in an area with good ventilation, moisture control and low exposure to light.
  12. Make sure your dry cleaner is environmentally certified.
